The Democratic Party decided to withdraw from government. The ministers of the Government led by Pavel Filip will vacate their seats as of June 14. The announcement was made by the party’s vice president Vladimir Cebotari in a press briefing, IPN reports.

According to Cebotari, the decision was taken in the meeting of the PDM’s National Political Council following the parliamentary parties’ unwillingness to have a dialogue and to resolve the crisis experienced by the Republic of Moldova.

“Our decision will partially solve the political impasse and will give a clear signal that the PDM does not stick to power,” sated the party’s vice president.

Vladimir Cebotari noted that regardless of the solutions that will be found later, the newly formed Government will work illegally as long as the Constitutional Court’s decisions are in force.

“The functionaries of state institutions will be unable to legally implement the decisions of such a Government and will be in a situation of legal risks. Therefore, snap elections will have to be ultimately held,” stated the politician.

Vladimir Cebotari addressed the party’s supporters, calling on them to remain calm and show restraint so as to avoid the escalation of the situation and use of violence.
