The Democratic parliamentary group will put forward a new bill concerning advertising of medicines. The bill registered by the faction in 2012 was withdrawn by the authors after it was given a not rather favorable appraisal by the Government, MP Oleg Tulea has told IPN. The lawmaker said the new bill will lay down clear advertising criteria and harsh penalties for their violation.

The new bill will not ban advertisements for drugs, as the withdrawn bill provided, but will impose certain restrictions. For example, it will not be allowed to show doctors in the ads. “The advertisements must inform the public, not promote particular products to the detriment of other products,” stated Oleg Tulea.

The goal is to have the bill adopted by the end of the Parliament’s current mandate.
