“We are disappointed – we are tired!”. This is the position of the political party “Democratia Acasa” (“Democracy at Home”) on the sociopolitical situation in Moldova, which was made public in a press briefing at Info-Prim Neo on November 7. The party’s head Vasile Costiuc said the members of the organization are extremely disappointed at what’s happening in the country and are tired of powerlessly following the negative state of affairs and, as an extraparliamentary political party, have the moral obligation to take attitude to the committed violations. “We, the generation of April 7, who took part in the protests of 2009 and essentially contributed to the change of the then government, wanted a different type of administration. But, regretfully, the steps taken by the present government after 2009 do not differ much from those of the previous administration. They speak about solutions and a Moldova without poor people. It is not clear without what, maybe without people in general? We are tired of indifferently following how somebody destroys our country,” said Vasile Costiuc. Alina Stavila, a member of the party, said that every day the people are witnesses of a painful scene as they live in poverty, are humiliated and disgraced. “During the last few weeks, I saw many people taking their property out in order to sell it on the street and earn money so as not to die of hunger. Many elderly persons are begging. More mothers with children seek assistance and justice from the state,” said Alina Stavila. According to Pavel Gribinenoo, a member of the party, the structure of the national public budget is inefficient and without prospect as it lacks a clear long-term strategy. Radj Carbune, a member of the party, said the situation in education and science is disastrous. There are not enough teachers, the salaries are low and the education institutions are closed. “We all know that education turned into an economic activity. Can we raise and educate our children in such conditions. We think the current government is not aware that a developed state lays emphasis on education first of all,” said Radj Carbune. Party member Vasile Fotescu said the roads in Chisinau are repaired, but the works carried out are pseudo-repairs. He said he is tired that the streets are dark and the capital city is dirty. This shows that the local public authorities are inefficient and the personal interest is put above the interests of society. “We are tired of seeing the incompetence of the mayor general in Chisinau as the problems remain unsolved,” said Vasile Fotescu. The movement “Democratia Acasa” became a political party in September.
