The young people of Moldova hold the key to the country’s integration into the EU and the European Democrat Students (EDS) of the European People’s Party will support the young candidates in the November 30 parliamentary elections of Moldova, EDS president Eva Majewski said in a press briefing held in Chisinau in concert with the leader of the Liberal Democratic Youth of Moldova Andrei Spanu, IPN reports.
“We are here to show our support for the young election candidates and to support the PLDM before the November elections. Not only we consider that the PLDM is a good promoter of reforms in Moldova. This opinion is shared by the administration of the European People’s Party and the European Commission,” stated Eva Majewski, noting that the EDS brings together 40 youth political organizations from 40 countries, representing over 1 million students at European level.
Eva Majewski also said that namely the young Moldovan politicians brought the country into the focus of the European policy. Moldova is now closer to Europe from cultural, historical and linguistic viewpoints than most of the other EaP countries.
For his part, Andrei Spanu said the participants in the International Forum “Young people create opportunities for Europe” that starts in Chisinau today will sign a joint statement in support of the fruit and vegetable producers of Moldova. The forum will discuss the youth policies of Moldova and opportunities for promoting the young people and involving them in the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU.
The International Forum “Young people create opportunities for Europe” is organized with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and the Wilfried Martens Center for European Studies, in partnership with the Liberal Democratic Youth of Moldova.
