For the Democratic Party there are no politicians or parties that cannot be talked with; still, the Democrats will not make any conditions and will not accept any in turn, said the party’s leader Vlad Plahotniuc during a press briefing at the close of the voting.
Plahotniuc said it’s still early to discuss the make-up of the next parliament, but “what is sure is that every seat won by the Democratic Party will work for the people”, as the government will continue the ongoing reforms and will start new ones. “All politicians should be united by one goal, make people’s lives better”.
The party’s first vice president Pavel Filip said the electoral process was transparent, free and democratic, and any violations were not such as to influence the result. In the diaspora, Filip thinks, the electoral process went impeccably.
Democratic Party vice president Andrian Candu condemned Maia Sandu’s behavior and the attempt of an NGO to pressure people into not participating in the simultaneous non-binding referendum the Democrats proposed. As for the voting abroad, Andrian Candu said the deficiencies reported in 2016 were now overcome.
