“The tests that the Moldovan political class did not yet pass will remain a task for 2010. The next year will will have to deal with new barriers that will twice or event thrice harder,” Marian Lupu, the leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), said at the last sitting of the Parliament this year, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Marian Lupu considers that the issue of identity relations is one of the problems that remained unsolved and could become more serious over time. “Most of the interethnic, religious or ideological conflicts are instigated for political purposes,” Lupu stressed, calling on the MPs to stop dividing the Moldovan society into the right and the left. He proposed initiating consultations with the scientists and representatives of the ethnic groups so as to identify solutions for overcoming the tense situation created in Moldova. The political instability and uncertainty typical of the new electoral context was another problem mentioned by the Democrat leader. “We should hasten the setting of the date of early elections or postpone the early elections for a longer period of time so as to facilitate the so necessary foreign financing or find other solutions,” Marian Lupu said. He also said that both of the solutions involve risks and urged his colleagues to hasten the consultations with constitutional law experts and specialized international organizations so as to identify the best solution. Speaking about the one-month vacation of the MPs, Marian Lupu said that in the present social, economic and political conditions, this vacation should not be regarded as detachment from the acute problems faced by the country.
