Democrat Forum of Romanians from Moldova celebrated Romania’s National Day

The Democrat Forum of Romanians from Moldova (FDRM) celebrated the National Day of Romania and the National Day of Romanians, settled one year ago at the 9th congress of the World Cultural League in Alba Iulia. The event took place on Saturday, December 2, in the building of the Writers ’ Union of Moldova.
The leader of the Forum, Nicolae Dabija told Info-Prim Neo that the event is a common one, among other actions for promoting national cultural values, supporting and protecting scientific truth, Romanian language, history and identity.
Dabija mentioned that the organization has subsidiaries in almost every raion of the republic, organizing cultural actions and meetings. Moreover, the forum contributes to providing Romanian literature to village libraries.
More than 140,000 persons joined the Forum till now, representing different age, professional and even ethnic categories, stated Dabija. According to the cited source, FDRM has subsidiaries on the left bank of Nistru River and in some states like Greece, Italy, Israel and Russia. “We are very happy to see many young people and children joining our movement, because it is up to them to protect their right to speak Romanian and identify themselves with the Romanian nation, the right to study Romanian history, which is our history”, mentioned Nicolae Dabija.
The Democratic Forum of Romanians from Moldova meet personalities like the academician Mihai Cimpoi, the director of “Timpul” newspaper Constantin Tanase, the chairman of the Journalist Union of Moldova Valeriu Saharneanu, the poet Grigore Vieru, the head of the Basarabia Metropolitan Petru, academician Dumitru Matcovschi, academician Anatol Codru, the film director Andrei Vartic, the director of the “Litera” Publishing House Anatol Vidrascu, the head of the Ecologist Movement of Moldova Alecu Renita and others.
