Deputy Chairmen, of the Democratic Party (PDM), who are up for election soon will not be part of the Government, but will dedicate themselves solely to the Party’s activity, said Vlad Plahotniuc, the Party’s First Deputy Chairman, at a meeting with the Party’s members from Straseni, reports Info-Prim Neo, citing a communiqué from the PDM. The meeting took place as part of the modernization plan, presented on June 16 at the 7th Congress of the Party. Vlad Plahotniuc talked about the necessity of modernizing the Party through the fortification of its primary organizations, in a manner that would make the regional Party representatives’ “voice” stronger. “Regional organizations should be the most important. Presently, 70% to 80% of the decision-making power belongs to Chisinau, but we want to change this ratio; it is an important objective of the reform. Decisions will be made collectively, because an organization, a Party should not be the hostage of a single man, as it is the case in other Parties”, said Vlad Plahotniuc. PDM’s First Deputy Chairman added that an important aspect of the reform is the method of promotion inside the Party, the emphasis being put on competence and competition. He added that these criteria would be applied for both the regional organizations and the headquarters, including the election of deputy chairs and delegates of the Party to the Government. In this context, Vlad Plahotniuc stated that the people promoted should remain loyal the Party’s objectives in such a manner that would fulfill the promises made to the citizens. “We delegate people to the Cabinet, giving them certain responsibilities, but there are situations when they forget about the Party’s objectives towards the citizens. For this reason, precisely, according to the reform’s plan, the newly elected deputy chairs will not be part of the Government, they will be people who will devote their entire attention to the Party’s activity”, added the Party’s First Deputy Chairman. “The Democratic Party’s doors are open to everyone who shares our values and wants to join us. We will pay attention to every new member. We have to plenty, in order to be strong enough for keeping our promises”, said Vlad Plahotniuc. The Democrats from Straseni greeted the reform initiative. Meanwhile, they discussed the necessity of intense social and economic initiatives, along with the necessity to make the Party’s actions more noticeable. The President and First Deputy Chairman of the Party were elected at its seventh Congress, the rest of the Deputy Chairs left to be elected soon. Up until the Congress, one of the Deputy Chair positions belonged to the Minister of Economy, Valeriu Lazar.
