Premier Vasile Tarlev met on Tuesday, January 16, the delegation of Société Générale Group, the holder of 70.57% of shares of the Commercial Bank Mobiasbanca. According to the press service of the Government, the head of the Europe - International Retail Banking of the Société Générale Group Jean-Didier Reigner said during the meeting that the Group intends to efficiently contribute to the development of the banking system in Moldova and to extend its European network into this zone. Tarlev welcomed the Société Générale’s intentions, mentioning that the Government will back all the initiatives to credit the real economy sector. Prime Minister has pleaded for taking long-term loans with a minimum interest rate. On the same day, the delegation had a meeting with the Minister of Economy and Commerce Igor Dodon. During the meeting, Jean-Didier Reigner said that the decision to enter the Moldovan market was made in the context of the economic reforms implemented in Moldova and promotion of investment policy on attracting foreign companies. “At the moment five more companies have expressed their desire to visit Moldova in order to establish the potential domains of investments”, head of the French delegation said. Société Générale Group is one of the leaders in the field of financial services in the Euro zone. By the end of last year, the Group, composed of 103 thousand employees, obtained a net banking income of EUR 10.6 bln and a net profit of EUR 4.4 bln. Its portfolio of activities focuses on three large domains: retail network and financial services, management of assets and services for investors, financing and investments. The Société Générale group is the first retail Bank in France, according to the turnover, while at international level the retail Bank has 9.2 mln customers, in 30 branches, covering 26 countries. In the few last years, the Group has built a retail bank network in the Central and South Eastern Europe: Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Serbia and Russia. On Wednesday, January17, the leadership of Société Générale participate in the General Assembly of Shareholders from “Mobiasbanca”.
