The current peacekeeping mechanism on the Dniester River has been destabilized and considerably discredited. This is the conclusion of the Delegation of the Republic of Moldova, which participated today in Bender at the first meeting of the Unified Control Commission this year, transmits IPN with reference to a press release issued by the Bureau of reintegration policies.

The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova brought to the attention of the Commission the recent cases of defiance of the regime of the Security Zone, the, mentioning the training at the end of last year of the military contingent of the Russian Federation within the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.

These provocative and irresponsible actions violated several decisions taken over the years at the level of the Unified Control Commission. Specifically, the trainings were organized contrary to the Plan of measures approved for 2024, were conducted in the perimeter of pacification stations instead of permanent dislocation points, they were led by the military commanders who did not have the necessary powers. At the same time, the armored technique that had to be withdrawn from the equipment was used in 2003. In addition, the movement of military observers who were supposed to document the violations on the spot was blocked.

The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova called the Delegation of the Russian Federation to respect the principles of the peacekeeping mission on the Dniester River.

The Military Command has presented the reports on the evolution of the situation in the Security Zone from December 25, 2024 to January 21, as well as explosive objects detected and destroyed in the Security Zone during the II semester of 2024. It was noted that the locals detected a total of 758 explosive objects, mostly during the second world war, all of which were destroyed in safe conditions under the control of the engineers.
