The delegation of Chisinau to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) condemns the ultimatum of the special services of the Transnistrian region, the so-called Transnistrian KGB, which demanded that the Moldovan law enforcement bodies within a month take measures to withdraw all the police bodies, the subdivisions of the Police Inspectorate and of the Center for State Information Resources “Registru” from Bender, IPN reports.

In a communiqué, the delegation says that the agreement on the peaceful settlement of the armed conflict in Moldova’s Transnistrian region of July 21, 1992 says that the public order in Bender is ensured by the Joint Control Commission, in concert with the Moldovan police bodies and the so-called Transnistrian militia. Thus, Tiraspol’s actions represent a direct threat to the current peacekeeping mechanism and an attempt to diminish the JCC’s role in the management of public order in Bender, ensuring of security and prevention of actions aimed at destabilizing the situation in the Security Zone.

Moldova’s delegation calls on the representatives of Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE Mission to take attitude to the statements of the Transnistrian special services and provoking actions that destabilize the situation in the region. These actions include the detention of the representatives of a private company transporting equipment for performing technical works in the Security Zone by a Transnistrian border guard patrol, on the pretext for violating the state border regime.

In order to maintain peace and security in the Security Zone, Moldova’s delegation will continue to take measures to implement the mechanisms provided in the relevant agreements and to inform the international organizations about the situation.
