“We aim to take all the opportunities for attracting investments and developing the small and medium-sized business,” the head of Ungheni district Ion Harea said in the opening of the Regional Investment Forum in Ungheni, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ion Harea said the free enterprise zone “Ungheni Business” attracted investments of over US$33 million. Four years ago, 22.2% of the investments in the six free enterprise zones of Moldova went to Ungheni. In 2007, the percentage was already 24.7%, while during the last two years – about 33%. Carmen Malancus, executive director of the Siret – Prut – Nistru Euroregion Association, said the forum in Ungheni is a large-scale event and the first of the kind organized at the level of the euroregion. ”Moldova’s economy must be structurally reorganized and all the bodies of the local administrations of the first and second level should be involved in this process,” said Deputy Speaker of Parliament and leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Serafim Urecheanu. Projects to develop the regional infrastructure, the agriindustrial sector and crossborder cooperation were presented during the forum. There will be staged an exhibition involving national and foreign producers and signed a number of cooperation agreements. The forum was organized by the authorities of the Siret– Prut – Nistru euroregion, the Centru Development Agency, the Ungheni District Council, and the Ungheni branch of the Chamber of Trade and Industry. Delegates from Moldova, Romania, Belarus, Poland, Germany, Latvia, and China are attending the event that is taking place during October 8-9. The Siret – Prut – Nistru euroregion includes the Romanian counties of Iasi and Vaslui and 18 Moldovan districts.
