The building located at 82 Schusev St, which is a monument of national importance, has undergone degrading modifications, the head of the Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration Ion Stefanita has told Info-Prim Neo.
“Though the Ministry of Culture’s National Council of Historical Monuments allowed building an attic story instead of the existing roof, they began to erect the second and third floors of this building,” said Ion Stefanita.
The Agency for Monument Inspection and Restoration has taken steps to find out who issued the authorization for erecting the two floors – the Chisinau City Hall or the National Council of Historical Monuments.
Constructed in 1888, the stone house situated on Schusev St belonged to merchant Hristofor Serbov-Sarbu. Academician N.P. Frolov (1908–1987), a specialist in economy, also lived in that house.
