Defense Ministry: Military career becomes popular in Moldova

“The stiff competition on the admission to the Military Institute “Alexandru cel Bun” this year shows that the military career in Moldova becomes popular,” Minister of Defense Vitalie Vrabie said on Friday while on a visit to the Bulboaca Training Grounds, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Ministry of Defense. According to the commander of the Military Institute, Colonel Nicolae Gherbovei, 415 young men applied to the Military Institute this year. The admission plan envisioned only 150 places. Fifty young persons were admitted to the carbineer department, 30 – to the infantry department, 25 – to the border guards department, 23 – to the transmissions department, while 22 – to the artillery department. Most of the enrolled students are from northern districts. The first admission exam was an intelligence test consisting of 60 questions from logics, physics, mathematics and history. The second exam was a physical fitness test that included fixed bar exercises and 100 and 1 000 m races. From 1992 until present, the Military Institute “Alexandru cel Bun” has prepared about 1,200 officers for the armed forces.
