The decoration of the businessman Mihail Aizin, alias Kitaeț, with the Medal for Distinguished Labour by President Igor Dodon, is neither an error nor an accident, said former PCRM MP, Alexandru Petkov, and current MP, Iurie Reniță.

Alexandru Petkov, former Communist Party MP in the 19th legislature (2010-2014), said that Igor Dodon relied on the fact that no one will notice Mihail Aizin among the 200 people which were decorated.

"When I saw the news, I thought that it was either a joke or a mistake. However, later it turned out to be true. People don't pay as much attention as they used to because awards are handed out to 100-200 people at a time. I believe that other reactions will follow", said Alexandru Petkov during a talk show on Jurnal TV.

Dignity and Truth Platform MP Iurie Reniță said that Mihail Aizin's decoration was not accidental. "Definitely not an error. I confirm that any person proposed for decoration, whether governmental or state, is vetted by state institutions. The fact that he reached the President's Office does not mean that Igor Dodon did not know or does not know this person", said Iurie Reniță.

Asked via phone about the state decoration of Mihail Aizin, Ernest Vardanean, adviser to President Dodon, said that "he has no idea who and why made this decision".

According to anticorupție.md, police records showed that Mihail Aizin was the leader of an organized criminal group known as the "Jewish group" during the 1990s.
