After the November 30 parliamentary elections, at least 30 lawmakers were put in the situation to choose either the seat of MP or the post held before the validation of this seat, which was incompatible with it. Such situations were experienced by local councilors, administrators and directors of Ltds, managers of education institutions and jurists.
Under the Law on the Status of MP, the seat of MP is incompatible with any other paid job, except for teaching and scientific activity performed outside the program set in accordance with the Parliament’s Regulations.
Contacted by IPN, the head of the press service of the Party of Socialists Carmena Lupei said that all those who entered Parliament on the Socialist ticket chose to preserve the seat of MP.
Eleven Socialist MPs faced situations of incompatibility of posts. These are: Elena Hrenova and Alexandr Nesterovschi (local councilors); Fiodor Gagauz (deputy of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia); Alla Dolinta, Oleg Lipskii, Radu Mudreac, Ghenadi Mitriuc, Victor Sorocean, and Anatolii Labunet (administrators of Ltds); Vasile Dolea and Grigore Novac (jurists).
Among the MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party, Victor Rosca renounced the post of Chisinau councilor, Grigore Cobzac – of head of Hancesti district, while Grigore Belostecinic renounced the seat of MP, choosing to keep the post of director of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.
As regards the Party of Communists, Ion Tomai preferred to continue holding the post of head of Ocnita district. The other Communist MPs who were to choose one of the two incompatible posts decided to occupy the seat of MP. These are: Boris Golovin, Chisinau councilor; Elena Bodnarenco, mayor of Soroca town, Petru Porcescu, deputy head of the Straseni District Council, and Vasili Panciuc, mayor of Balti town.
Three persons representing the Democratic Party experienced situations of incompatibility of posts. Vasile Batca renounced the post of head of Nisporeni district, Nicolai Dudoglo – of mayor of Comrat town, while Demian Karaseni – of deputy of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia.
Three persons who entered Parliament on the lists of the Liberal Party renounced the seats of MP. Dorin Chirtoaca preferred to keep the post of Mayor General of Chisinau, Veronica Herta - of head of the General Finance Division of the Chisinau City Hall, while Mihai Moldovanu – of head of the Health Division. Also, Lilian Carp chose the seat of MP, leaving the post of head of staff of the Chisinau City Hall, while Iurie Darda vacated the post of Chisinau councilor in favor of the seat of MP. Ion Apostol and Iurie Chirinciuc renounced the posts of administrators of Ltds and became MPs.
The secretary of the Central Election Commission Andrei Volentir said the position of member of the Government is also not compatible with the seat of MP, but given that the Cabinet is now acting, its members are not obliged to renounce the seat of lawmaker, if they entered Parliament.
