The Ministry of Health has draft a Government decision to review the tariffs of medical-sanitary services following a relevant decision adopted by Parliament and submitted it to the authorities for examination, the Ministry said in a response to an inquiry made by IPN. Four months have passed since the legislative body adopted this decision that stipulated that the Government was to provide an answer within 30 days.
The tariffs of medical-sanitary services were increased in February by a Government decision, in some cases ten times. The Ministry of Health explained then that the move was aimed at increasing the quality of medical services and the efficiency of treatment by modernizing hospitals. However, the National Anticorruption Center, which carried out an appraisal of the Ministry’s decision, established that the tariffs of some types of medical services were increased excessively and unjustifiably.
On April 6, 2017, Parliament adopted a decision whereby it ordered to review the tariffs of medical-sanitary services. This stipulated that the Government was to make changes and supplements to the methodology for calculating the tariffs of medical-sanitary services provided for money within 30 days of its adoption.
At the start of June, Communist MP Oxana Domenti, one of the authors of the Parliament decision, said the Government delays the implementation of the decision and this is inacceptable. According to her, this decision that was adopted by a unanimous vote wasn’t a whim of the legislature, but a necessity based on analyses and objective factors.
