Judges of the Ciocana Court are considering the prosecutors’ request to extend the house arrest for ex-President Igor Dodon. A demonstrator in support of the politician is being mounted in front of the court. Dodon was met with applause there, IPN reports.
In the protest, members and supporters of the Party of Socialists said that the pieces rise daily in the country. The socioeconomic situation has worsened, while the authorities are fighting against the opposition. The demonstrators chant: “Freedom for Igor Dodon!”, “Stop wrongdoings!”, “Down with Maia Sandu!” etc.
Igor Dodon is accused of passive corruption, acceptance of financing for the political party from a criminal organization, treason and unjust enrichment. The politician said this is a political case. Igor Dodon’s wife, who is accused of complicity in unjust enrichment, was banned from leaving the country. Galina Dodon’s brother is in remand detention.
