A group of nongovernmental organizations announced they will carry out a number of cultural activities in Chisinau on December 1, when it is marked the National Day of Romania. The participants in the event will come together in Europe Square in the central park of Chisinau, starting at 11am. They will lay flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy and will then take part in a demonstration and a patriotic music concert. The members of the NGOs invite the political and associative groups and all the Romanians to take part in the December 1 event, which is an occasion for seeking the reunification of the Romanian Country, IPN reports.

In a news conference at IPN, the head of the 1992 War Veterans Association “Tiras-Tighina” Anatol Caraman said that there is no other chance of survival than the union with the Great Romania and all the politicians who were hypocritical and made the state captive during 25 years lied to the people and must admit this.

The head of the Foundation “Turnul Dezrobirii Basarabiei” (‘”Liberation Tower”) Timotei Turcanu said that this year, as every year on December 1, a number of activities will be staged to promote the Union desideratum. According to him, only by strengthening the unionist movements everywhere and by insistence, can this desideratum be achieved. Despite the multitude of events, the Union remains the only uncompromised idea.

The head of the Foundation “Justice and Democracy” Iulia Deliu noted that the union with the motherland means first of all restoration of the historical truth and the fastest way of achieving the European integration objective. Romania is for Moldova the biggest economic force in the region.

Ludmila Bolboceanu, head of the Moldovan Women’s Movement for Combating Poverty and Illiteracy, said it is an honor and an art to be unionist and each unionist should struggle for the country’s reunification. The Romanians from both sides of the Prut are brothers and the blood does not turn into water. All the unionist movements should join together and should not wait for actions from the politicians, who pursue their own goals.

The chairman of the Association “Moldova Mea” Fiodor Ghelici said that even if he could be booed by the Russian-speakers, he wants to express his support for the unionist current and its representatives because they show courage and are no afraid to state their viewpoints. The unionists’ cry of the soul is close to him and those who live in this country must love it and respect the people.

The head of the Association “Reality and Truth” Veaceslav Balacci said December 1 is a perfect occasion for making the unionist idea heard and they need a powerful and united voice for the purpose.

Vitalia Pavlicenco, who heads the National Liberal Party, said all the Romanians and other language speakers who are loyal to the idea of affiliation to the Romanian nation, members of other unionist platforms and political groups that consider themselves pro-European, Romanian and unionist are invited to take part in the December 1 event.

The National Day of Romania has been marked since December 1, 1990.
