Debt for water consumption topped MDL 273 mln

Debts of consumers to the “Apa-Canal Chisinau” JSC (ACC) totaled about MDL 273 mln, or by MDL 15 mln more compared to last year. Head of Customer Relations Department of the ACC, Mihai Golban, told Info-Prim Neo that the greatest part of the debts belong to domestic consumers – circa MDL 155 mln or by MDL 10 mln more than in December 2005. Economic entities owe more than MDL 113 mln for the consumed water. The greatest share of the sum is represented by the debts of the thermo- energetic complex, more than 100 mln. Budgetary institutions owe the water supplier MDL 5 mln, of which 1.5 mln are for those financed from the state budget. Golban specified that the majority of the domestic consumers’ debts (about MDL 117 mln) represent the difference between the meters in the apartments and those in the apartment blocks. According to the source, the solution is to install modern meters and respect technical conditions when mounting them. Golban said that the level of paying the consumption by the population is of 104%. The larges water consumer is the population covering a share of 73.2% of the total volume, followed by economic agents – 14.1% and budgetary institutions – 5.2%.
