Death toll rises in Ungheni bus crash

The death toll in a bus accident in Ungheni district rose to 11 people, including two children, the mayor of Moreni village and his wife, Info-Prim Neo learned from Vladimir Pendus, head of the Traffic Police's general staff. The bus driver, 53, also died on the way to hospital. 25 others are hospitalized, including 10 in the intensive care unit. The accident happened today at around 8:00am when the bus fell into a gorge near Moreni village, Ungheni district. Preliminary investigations showed no traces of braking, which means that the driver was either inattentive and didn't see the curve or the brakes did not respond. Investigators and the Traffic Police are further investigating to establish all the circumstances of the accident and those responsible.
