The companies will be able to use the old excise stamps on alcohol and tobacco products in the first quarter of next year as well. The Government extended the December 31, 2010 deadline for another three months, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The new excise stamps were put into circulation on April 1, 2010 following multiple cases of counterfeiting the old stamps. According to Minister of Finance Veaceslav Negruta, the new excise stamps have a special color pattern, four visible protection levels and a number of invisible protection elements.
“Regretfully, the companies have not used up the old excise stamps. In order to spare them from new expenses in a period of crisis, it was decided to extend their period of validity by April 1, 2011,” Negruta said. The old excise stamps will be used in parallel with the new ones, whose printing is coordinated by Fiscservinform, which is a subdivision of the State Main Tax Inspectorate.
