The persons who own motor vehicles registered in other states and in the Transnistrian region, which were brought to Moldova before November 1, 2016, can register these by paying a tax of only 30% of the excise duty set for 2016 by July 1, 2017. The initial April 1 deadline was extended by the Government for three months, IPN reports.
Minister of Finance Octavian Armasu said that 320 million lei in excise duties has been collected into the state budget so far. The number of those who want to register their vehicles in the country increased significantly during the past week and lines formed at customs offices.
“We hope that all those who want, including those whose vehicles have Transnistrian license numbers, will manage to register the cars by July 1. In the period, we will identify solutions for registering the vehicles of owners from the Security Zone and of other categories of people who do not have documents for registering the cars in Republic of Moldova,” stated the minister.
