The troupe of Mihai Eminescu National Theater invites the public to the last premiere of this year – a production of the ‘prose poem’ “Dead Souls” by the Russian classic writer N.V.Gogol, Info-Prim Neo reports. The play was directed by the Bessarabian Ion Sapdaru, who settled in Romania 20 years ago and made a successful career there. “I was very glad to see again my theater colleagues after a long period of time, to find them in good shape and ready to work with such a complex dramatic material like the one written by Gogol,” Ion Sapdaru said. Speaking about the cast, the director said that about 95% of the actors work at the National Theater. The spectators could see such renowned theater personalities as Vitalie Rusu, Viorica Chirca, Nicolae Darie, Angela Ciobanu and Mihaela Strambeanu as well as young actors. Asked to speak about the role of Pavel Cicikov, People’s Artist Vitalie Rusu said that the way of thinking and the behavior of the character are up-to-date and reiterated the director’s words: “We all are dead souls as the leaders of the world manipulate us as they want.” The play will premiere on December 20 and 21.
