Investors and development partners from Romania, the Czech Republic and Latvia will visit northern Moldova on the occasion of the Days of North Development Region that will be staged by the North Regional Development Agency starting with September 29. The head of Glodeni district Ion Leuca, who heads the North Regional Development Council, in a news conference at IPN said the Days of North Development Region became a traditional dialogue platform that can serve as a model for other development regions of the country.
“For our region, which consists of 11 districts and Balti municipality, the events organized on the occasion of the Days of North Development Region mean first of all a very important possibility of promoting the socioeconomic potential of the region, of popularizing the regional development policy and of establishing new relations of cooperation with partners from such countries as the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania and with those from the region,” stated Ion Leuca.
The events start at the Balti State University “Alecu Russo” on September 29. A scientific-practical symposium will be held there under the theme “Regional competitiveness based on research, innovation and technology transfer”. On September 30, there will be staged the third Economic Forum “Promotion of the Economic Potential and Creation of Opportunities for Attracting Investments to the North Development Region”. On October 1, Balti will host the Honey Festival.
In this connection, director of the North Regional Development Agency Ion Bodrug said that owing to the support provided by the Government of Romania, a management center for beekeepers from northern Moldova will be created in Cupcini village of Edinet district. There, the beekeepers will be able to process the honey that is to be exported to the EU. Investments in this center amount to €157,000. In last year’s edition of the Honey Festival, the beekeepers of northern Moldova sold about 2 tonnes of honey.
