Boxer Daria Sazonov won a bronze medal at the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships held in the city of Niš, Serbia. In the semifinals, the Moldovan athlete from lost to Yeldana Talipova of Kazakhstan, Asian boxing champion, IPN reports.
Before qualifying for the semifinals of the 81kg weight class, Daria Sazonov defeated Nena Zamora of French Polynesia.
After this success, Daria Sazonov became the first Moldovan on the rostrum of the world seniors’ competition, said the Ministry of Education and Research.
Last year, Daria Sazonov became European U23 boxing champion.
At the World Boxing Championships in Serbia, the Republic of Moldova was also represented by Maia Odajiu and Iulia Corol.
