“The strategic partnership for supporting the European course of the Republic of Moldova remains the programmatic document of action of Romania,” Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ioniță stated in an event staged by the Agency for Interethnic Relations at the House of Nationalities in Chisinau on April 8 on the occasion of the International Romani Day.

“We stick to our principle that the projects implemented by Romania in the Republic of Moldova were and will be intended for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, regardless of ethnicity, religion, spoken language or geographical area where they live. This is an inclusive principle from which the Moldovan citizens of Roma ethnicity can also benefit by if the European standards are fully implemented in their daily life,” stated Daniel Ioniță.

According to the ambassador, it is important to know, understand and protect the traditions, values and aspirations of everyone, including of the Roma community. The solutions that contribute to the social inclusion, by keeping simultaneously the cultural identity, can be identified this way.

“For Romania, the inclusion of persons who belong to the Roma community continues to be a priority on which we focus at national level and in multilateral context,” stated the official.

The event included the opening of an exhibition of reproductions of plastic works of painter Nicolai Bessonov.
