Andrei Spînu is the new Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development. Dan Perciun took over as Minister of Education and Research, while Adrian Efros will manage the Ministry of the Interior. The three took an oath of office before President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. President Sandu thanked the former ministers for their work and asked the new members of the Cabinet to continue the initiated reforms, IPN reports.

On July 14, Premier Recean announced the resignation of Ana Revenco, Lilia Dabija and Anatolie Topală. “I want to thank our colleagues Anatolie Topală, Ana Revenco and Lilia Dabija for the work they did in this period. I know how great their effort and sacrifice were. Each of these people worked a lot. Each of them was a model of correctness and deserves our full appreciation. These persons managed ministries in a very difficult period, coped with crises and managed to improve the functioning of the institution they led and to launch reforms in their area of responsibility. These processes should be continued and accelerated. My expectation is that your energy and will to change things to the better will enable us to give a new impetus to the initiated transformations,” said Maia Sandu, addressing the new ministers.

For his part, Dorin Recean welcomed the new ministers. “Education is the foundation of our society. We must do so that university education is competitive. It is very important to increase the quality of education in schools. For the purpose, we need to invest more and be more efficient in the allocation of resources. In infrastructure, it is very important to reduce the cycle from conception to putting into operation on all segments – roads, bridges, railways. It is also important to accelerate the implementation of the European Village. At the Ministry of the Interior, we must reduce the response time and increase citizens’ confidence in the police, border police, firefighters, rescuers, carabineers,” stated the official.

Since August 2021, Andrei Spînu had served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development in the Gavrilița Cabinet. After the Gavrilița Cabinet resigned, he was named secretary general of the Presidential Office.

Dan Perciun, had sat as an MP since 2019. Since 2021, he had headed the Parliament’s commission on social protection, health and family.

Adrian Efros headed the Logistics Division of the National Army. After the war in Ukraine broke out, in March 2022 he was named head of the Common Crisis Management Center.
