Moldova will soon face so serious problems that the electoral period and the local elections will seem a vacation to it, director of the Institute of Political Sciences and International Relations of the Romanian Academy Dan Dungaciu said in the talk show “European horizon” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
Dan Dungaciu voiced hope that the pro-European parties of Moldova will be able to ultimately form a government coalition that will overcome the difficulties. “Moldova is a country without government. It monthly spends 8 million lei on maintaining bankrupt banks. Moldova faces a serious credibility-related problem at internal and external levels. Another problem is the serious situation in the financial-banking sector. The Moldovan authorities should give the judiciary system freedom to deal with the situation. Moldova needs urgent political re-formation,” he stated.
As to the results of the local elections in Moldova, Dungaciu said the outcome shows that the Moldovan society is polarized. “There are two Republics of Moldova. One is represented by Chisinau and its suburbs, where the voters are well informed. The other Moldova is represented by the rest of the country. The two Moldovas do not look into each other’s eyes when they vote. Chisinau, which votes the pro-European parties, holds strategic interest for Russia, which is aware that the colored revolutions start in large cities,” he stated.
