The dactyloscopic registration (fingerprints) of the Moldovans who intend to go abroad to work will no longer be mandatory. It is also excluded the obligation for vehicle drivers to pay for the dactyloscopic registration service, as a bill approved by the Cabinet provides.

The bill stipulates that besides the Ministry of the Interior, the dactyloscopic registration service will also be provided by other institutions designated by the Government for the purpose. It goes to the procedures intended for vehicle drivers, citizens who, for health or age-related reasons, are unable to communicate data about their identity, and foreigners and stateless persons who came to Moldova to ask for asylum or to obtain the refugee status.

Minister of the Interior Ana Revenco said the procedure will optimize the public services provided for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, will extend the dactyloscopic database covering citizens active in the country, persons who apply for the driver’s license, asylum or cannot identify themselves.

The Ministry of the Interior said the measures will help secure the communities by discovering offenses committed many years ago, whose author is not known.
