The activity of the DA Platform group of the ACUM parliamentary group was modest given that Parliament practically didn’t work during three months. According to the group’s chairman Alexandru Slusari, among their most important accomplishments are the report produced by the commission of investigation into the bank fraud and the extension of the period of using patents in retail trade for another three years.
Contacted by IPN for a comment at the end of the parliamentary session, Alexandru Slusari said that after the three months during which Parliament didn’t work, they formed that unnatural parliamentary majority that was the only one possible in those circumstances. The Platform significantly contributed to all the state freeing actions to the extent to which this was possible as part of the coalition with the Party of Socialists. Those were common actions aimed at freeing the state from Plahotniuc’s dictatorship and they resulted from the wish of 80% of the citizens who didn’t want to live under the yoke of Plahotniuc.
Besides the common actions, the DA Platform pout forward a number of initiatives, such as the constitution of the commission of inquiry into the bank fraud and the presentation of the report compiled by this based on which a Parliament decision was adopted. “No matter what follows, the decision is a benchmark for revising the US$ 1 billion law, for investigating the case and taking other actions. Even if similar actions are not taken by the PDM-PSRM, this decision will anyway remain a point of reference,” stated the MP.
According to him, another important accomplishment is the extension of the period during which small entrepreneurs can work based on patent. This was the Platform’s desideratum. The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) promised that the small businesses, traders will be able to work without facing the risk of having their activity stopped. By extending the period during which patents will be valid by three years, they managed to ensure greater stability for over 20,000 people.
As to the electoral promises of the ACUM Bloc, Alexandru Slusari said the postponement of the adoption of the Magnitsky Law was a compromise reached when signing the political agreement with the Party of Socialists. The DA Platform didn’t abandon this initiative and the law on the creation of the Anticorruption Court that was to be discussed in the context of the broad justice sector reform. “Regrettably, this wasn’t done. I don’t think, the government controlled by Dodon will focus on a veritable justice sector reform. It will only mimic things.”
The MP noted the biggest regret is the fact that the Declaration on State Capture could not be correctly applied as special laws were to be adopted and most of the functionaries from such important institutions as the National Agency for Energy Regulation, the Audiovisual Council, the Court of Auditors, the Competition Council were to be dismissed. Another path was followed, but this wasn’t the correct one. The declaration remained a paper with a symbolic meaning.
In the next session, the DA Platform group of the ACUM parliamentary group will propose initiatives to support the SMEs, the agro-industrial sector, the national producers. The group will further focus on the bank fraud and on decentralization. As to the cooperation with the colleagues from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Alexandru Slusari said the two groups discuss together strategic problems and coordinate their positions, but they are yet two distinct entities.
At the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019, the ACUM electoral bloc won 26 seats of MP, 12 of which in single member constituencies No. 14, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 30, 32, 33, 37, 50 and 51. The MPs of ACUM formed two parliamentary group of the ACUM Bloc - the PAS group and the Platform DA group. The last has 11 members.
