The water tower in Zaicana village, Criuleni district, was reconstructed thanks to a project funded by the Czech Republic as part of a program to support small local initiatives. The project’s goal has been to increase the availability and quality of drinking water for the residents of Zaicana, IPN reports.
The Czech Embassy said in a press release that the project involved the construction of a new tower, its transportation to the site and installation works. It is now completely functional, supplying water to domestic consumers as well as to the village school and kindergarten.
During works to uninstall the old tower, it was found that because of heavy pollution, deposits had formed that affected the quality and taste of water. The new tower fixed the problem.
A ceremony has held to hand over the new water tower to the village.
