Over 70 elderly persons and persons with locomotor disabilities received wheelchairs and other aids that were donated by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Moldova through the Czech Development Cooperation Program. The handover ceremony was held on October 19, IPN reports.
The beneficiaries of the donation are persons from eight districts who are served by the day medical-social centers of the public association “Homecare”. Thirteen persons received wheelchairs, while another 30 persons walking sticks and crutches. There were also donated 20 walking frames and ten portable toilets.
The association’s president Tamara Adasan said the project was aimed at improving the quality of life of elderly people and persons with disabilities who depend on someone else.
Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Moldova Zdeněk Krejčí assured that such donations will be yet made by the Czech Republic to Moldova through other programs.
Alexandra Catac, one of the beneficiaries of equipment, thanked for the provided support. She said it is very hard to accept the disability, especially if it’s an acquired one, and the support of those around is very important.
The Czech Development Cooperation Program is financed in partnership with Caritas in the Czech Republic.
