A cyber-attack on number of phone users who are employees of the Ministry of Home Affairs, including minister Pavel Voicu, was identified by officers of the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service. The attack consisted in abusive calls from a number of phone numbers, IPN reports, quoting the Service.
The officers established that the goal of the cyber-attack was to block the network of subscribers and the mobile phone carriers confirmed that the attack was launched from outside Moldova.
Criminal proceedings were instituted over unauthorized access to telecommunications networks and services. Those involved face a fine of 67,500 to 167,500 lei or at most five years in jail
