Customs Frauds Division head arrested for bribery

The head of the Customs Frauds Division of the Centru Customs Office of Chisinau municipality was arrested by anticorruption officers on suspicion of passive corruption, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime (CCCEC) says the customs officer asked for €200 from a person for closing the administrative case started against an economic entity and for reducing the fine that was to be paid by the latter. The customs officer was arrested in his office after he took the €200 marked ‘bribe’. A criminal case was opened over passive corruption. The man is held at the remand unit of the CCCEC. The operation was performed in concert with the Internal Security Division of the Customs Office.
