The temperatures recorded now in Moldova are abnormal for this period, but do not represent a record high. Head of the Weather Forecasts Center Gennady Rosca has told IPN that the temperatures in 2012 exceeded 40 degrees Celsius in the period, while the record high was of 42.4 degrees.
The highest temperature this year was 38 degrees Celsius and was recorded at the Dubasari weather station. The high temperatures are caused by a wave of heat that comes from Northern Africa. The orange code advisory for heat was extended until August 6.
On August 7, the temperatures will start to decline and will reach 33-35 degrees Celsius, which is the interval for the orange code advisory. As of August 10, the temperatures will decrease under 30 degrees Celsius, which is the normal level for this period.
During August 6-8, there will be rain in parts of the country, including with thunder and lightning.
