There is a risk that the pro-European parties that form the current government coalition might lose the parliamentary election on November 30. Society is disappointed with some of the government's failures and Russian pressure coupled with differences between politicians aggravates the situation. At a press club meeting of the Association for Foreign Policy (APE), APE director Victor Chirila urged the politicians to moderate their messages and to anticipate their negative effects on the future of their parties and of the country.

The risks of the pro-European parties to lose the elections are both internal and external. Victor Chirila expects Russian pressure on Moldova to increase and referred to the upcoming visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Rogozin in Chisinau. Chirila recalls that each time the Russian official came to Chisinau, he brought undiplomatic messages and even warnings that Moldova would have to face consequences if it continued on its European path.

The APE director said that the situation in neighboring Ukraine will likely aggravate and this will harm Moldovan economy and increase the people's unhappiness. Moreover, Moldova might suffer as a result of the deterioration of Russia's relations with the EU and the U.S.

Concerning internal risks, Chirila pointed out to differences between politicians, corruption and influence peddling scandals. Society doesn't trust these parties anymore, as shown by recent polls.

Victor Chirila admits that Chisinau's relations with Comrat and Balti might worsen and these internal tensions could be fueled from abroad to aggravate the situation in the country. He recommends politicians to be attentive at everything that's happening around. Pro-European politicians are advised to stop attacking each other because they may fail to form a governmental team to continue the implementation of started reforms.
