The “Orfeu” Curative Pedagogy Pilot Complex received electric generators from UNICEF, with the support of the Government of Croatia. According to the Chisinau municipality and donors, the generators can compensate for power outages and provide a backup power source in case of failures or emergencies.

During the donation ceremony, Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the Chisinau Directorate of Education, noted that the events in Ukraine affected energy security in the Moldovan institutions. This donation represents an important support for the institutions in the municipality of Chisinau.

Chisinau deputy mayor Angela Cutasevici said that Orfeu represents an educational complex that includes kindergarten, primary and secondary classes. It is a special institution due to its inclusive approach. In addition to studies, it provides kinesthetic inclusion activities, physical therapy and many more. “The donated generators are absolutely necessary to ensure energy security in the institution attended by more than 200 children”, said Cutasevici.

The Croatian government has decided to contribute one 100,000 euros to the UNICEF fund, and the organization helps in identifying needs in the social and educational fields. “As an ambassador, it is a pleasure for me to know that the assistance provided is for such a good cause, so useful. In addition to the goals that I have at the diplomatic level, one goal is to get closer to the people, to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova”, stated Marija Kapitanović.

Maha Damaj, UNICEF Country Representative to Moldova, said that it is an honor for the organization to serve children in any country in which it operates, because they deserve to have a dignified life and to have the opportunity to exploit their full potential.
