The young people will receive cultural vouchers for going to the theater, museums, exhibitions and concerts. The Cabinet approved a bill providing that the young people, when they turn 18, will receive by 1,000 lei into their government account, which they could use for the aforementioned purposes, IPN reports.
According to the sponsors of the initiative, the new mechanism is aimed at motivating the young people to cultualize and amuse themselves more often and at supporting and financing culture by stimulating the theater and concert institutions to diversify their repertoires.
The document also stipulates the conditions in which vouchers will be provided, the way in which the virtual account will be used, the groups covered by this Program and the methods of financing it. Such practices to encourage young people to take part in cultural and artistic events are frequently met in Romania, Spain, France, Slovakia and Italy.
In the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița said that a mobile application is being designed to enable to use the cultural vouches. This will be piloted from September 1 and is to become functional in October.
