Cultural events dedicated to Independence Day to take place mainly at National Palace

The 27th anniversary of Moldova’s independence will be marked on August 27 by a series of cultural-artistic events staged simultaneously in Chisinau municipality and in the country’s districts. In Chisinau, the holiday will start at 8:30am with the laying of flowers at the Grieving Mother’s Monument at the Memorial Complex “Eternity”. At 9:30am, flowers will be laid at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy in central Chisinau, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, a National Costume Parade will take place in the square of the National Opera House “Maria Biesu” starting at 10am. The festive column will later head for the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac”, where a concert will begin at 10am.

The performance will involve the National Folk Music Orchestra “Lautarii”, the Dances Ensemble “Fluieras”, the Ensemble of Accordionists “Concertino”, the National Symphonic Orchestra of “Teleradio Moldova” Company, the Choral Academic Choir “Doina”, the Presidential Orchestra and folk music bands from the country’s districts.

The concert will also feature such national starts as Eugen Doga, Nicolae Botgros, Constantin Moscovici, Mariana Bulicanu, Ioana Căpraru, Ion Paladi, Nelly Ciobanu, Natalia Gordienco, Cristofor Aldea-Teodorovici and Natalia Barbu, the foreign singers Marcel Pavel, Paula Seling, Ionuț Dolănescu and Andrei Jilihovschi and young talents from Moldova.

A large-scale protest, staged by the National Resistance Movement ACUM, will take place in the central square of Chisinau where the main cultural events dedicated to the Independence Day are usually held. The protest starts on August 26 and is expected to continue on August 27.
