The Cultural Center “Vatra” has launched a nationwide project entitled “Moldova - European Culture and Destiny” that is designed to promote Moldova’s image at European level through the national artistic values and cultural management. The project is supported by the National Youth Council of Moldova and the Students Alliance of Moldova.

In a news conference at IPN, project manager Mircea Tira said that this project will have positive effects in tourism, culture and economy and will also have a positive impact on society as it will facilitate access to exceptional cultural and artistic events. “We will mount cultural events intended to create Moldova’s visiting card abroad, especially in the context of the rapprochement with the EU,” he stated.

The Medieval Festival is the first event, planned for May 31 – June 1. The head of the Students Alliance of Moldova Nicolai Loghin said that a series of unique performances and activities will be held during two days. They will present the authentic medieval culture and traditions. The visitors will be able to follow the reconstruction of a historical battle, an arrow shooting competition, medieval dances, a gastronomic performance, a handicrafts fair and a fire show. The festival will take place at the Ethnic-Cultural Complex “Vatra” on the Chisinau – Ungheni road, at the exit from Straseni district. Entrance to the complex costs 50 lei per person for a day and 80 lei per person for two days.

Chairman of the National Youth Council of Moldova Doru Curosu said that this project, which includes a number of cultural events, is an important step towards supporting the young people to show their talents. “Some of the cultural elements are lost. There are young people who individually try to keep these traditions,” he stated.

Ecaterina Covali, ex-head the Young Journalist’s Center of Moldova, said the project aims to promote the authentic values and patriotism among the young people so as to encourage them not to emigrate and to use their creative intellectual potential in Moldova. The young people need to know that someone can help them realize their potential and that they can assert themselves at home.

Representatives of the organizations called on the young people to become involved in the implementation of the project and to submit proposals for organizing other events.
