“A European, prosperous, proud and confident Moldova. Through confidence and common aspirations, our nation is invincible,” this is the message that should be transmitted by the slogan of the new party that is being founded – the Coalition for Unity and Welfare (CUB), the leader of the initiative group Igor Munteanu, ex-ambassador and known opinion leader, stated in a news conference hosted by IPN.

“This is a liberal, center-right, pro-European political party and we are ready to put it at the service of the citizens. This political project has been planned for a period,” he stated, noting that the developments in Ukraine and the worsening of living conditions in the country amplified the activists’ wish to become involved.

As a result, the Congress to constitute the new party, which already has organizations in 15 territorial units, will take place on November 5 this year. The assembly will adopt the basic documents of the party.

”It is the coalition of free people united for welfare,” noted Igor Munteanu. The party pleads for liberal economic development ideas, healthy private initiative and “minimal” or efficient state. In the economy, CUB promises policies to ensure the creation of new, well-paid jobs. The party aims to bring the waste of public funds and of bureaucratic dictatorship to an end. “We want a state with clear rules, for the people. We consider Moldova has all the resources for the people to live happily at home. Welfare should be the emblem of the Moldovans,” stated Igor Munteanu.

The Congress will propose that Moldova’s entry into the European community in 2030 should be one of the party’s objectives. Guaranteeing the achieving of this objective, Igor Munteanu spoke about common spaces integrated with Romania, which will combine the forces of the two states in a national unity project, while the achieving of this ideal will be internationally recognized.

Institutionally, the party will join the European Liberals ALDE/Renew Europe, which is the third force in the European Parliament.

The news conference to launch the new party also involved a series of persons known in the public sphere as members of the initiative group, namely: Rodica Gramma, Eduard Bulgac, Igor Klipii, Ion Terguță, Ludmila Armașu, Sveatoslav Mihalache, and Octavian Zelinski.
