The high temperatures of the last two weeks pose a real threat to crops. Specialists say that Moldova is on the verge of a new drought, with some of the spring crops being already affected.
Contacted by IPN, the chairman of the Association of Grain Producers “ANPC-Agro” Nicanor Buzovoi said that the danger of drought increases every day, while the quantity of moisture in soil is close to a critical level.
“Such crops as peas for cans have been already affected. The peas started to bloom and have by two or even one pod instead of six. If the high temperatures persist for another week, corn will also be affected,” said Nicanor Buzovoi.
Wheat started to dry. Rape and sunflower are more resistant.
