Cronograf Festival's trophy goes to the Czech Republic

The Grand Prix and the Trophy of the International Documentaries Festival Cronograf in Chisinau, the 7th edition, was offered to the film “Marcela”, directed byHelena Trestikova (the Czech Rep.), Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to OWH Studio, the prize was awarded “for the way in which reality becomes art, and in spite of all hardships, the art manages to give hope in the future”.
The prize for direction was offered Adina Pintilie from Romania for the movie “Don't get offended, but …” “for the way in which she explored the essence of the human nature in an unconventional artistic way”.
The prize for image went to Tato Koteshvili for the documentary “Their Helicopter” (Georgia and Britain) “for the special view which turns a weapon into a home appliance”.
The jury's special award “for the sincerity in describing the backstage of gymnastics where there are sacrifices and pain” was given to the movie “The Secret from Deva” directed by Anca Miruna Lazarescu (Romania). The jury's special mention “for courage and objectivity” was offered to the movie “Alyosha” produced by Meelis Muhu (Estonia).
Special awards were granted by the partners in the festival. The Moldovan office of the International Migration Organization awarded the movie “The Flowers Bridge” directed by Thomas Ciulei (Romania). Winrock International Moldova offered its award to the author and protagonists of the same movie.
The Independent Journalism Center and the APEL Electronic Press Association offered prizes to TV productions and music clips.
The 7th edition of the Cronograf Festival unfolded from May 15 to 19, as 28 movies participated in the basic section , and 14 films in the cadRO section, signed by directors from 23 countries. Moldova was represented by the movies of two directors: Dana Doneica and Dragos Turea.
The last three years, the Grand Prix and Public Sympathy Prize were awarded to movies produced by Polish directors.
