The government of Moldova should be ashamed of the criticism that was leveled at Moldova by some of the MEPs. At the same time, the statements made by these resulted in no concrete decision on Moldova on the part of the European Parliament, said politicians and experts invited to the talk show “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel, IPN reports.

Unaffiliated MP Lilian Carp said those who are in power should be ashamed of the fact that they brought Moldova on the EU’s agenda in such a way by their acts. “The European Union fears that the Republic of Moldova, which was trusted a lot in 2009-2016, even in advance in particular areas, deviates from particular recommendations,” he stated.

Deputy head of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Mihai Popusoi said that harsh criticism was uttered in the European Parliament and the fake pro-Europeanism of the Democratic Party was fully disclosed. “There is already no doubt in the European capitals and in Brussels that the PDM only pretends to be a pro-European party and this is seen daily,” he stated.

Socialist MP Bogdan Tardea noted he agrees with the criticism leveled by the MEPs at the legal system and with the suspension of financing for some programs. “I would be glad if the European Parliament also discussed the problem of state capture, the oligarchic system, the theft of the US$ 1 billion, the laundering of the US$ 22 billion from the Russian Federation,” he said.

Political analyst Roman Mihaes said there is no decision by the European Parliament, the European Commission or the Council of the EU as to the suspension of the macro-financial assistance intended for Moldova. The MEPs stated different opinions about the electoral system change in Moldova. “A German MEP said Germany also uses a mixed electoral system and this does not mean that Germany should be removed from the EU or should have the financing suspended. The Republic of Moldova introduced a mixed system as Germany did. Where is the crime? The German MEP said it right – it depends on how this system is implemented,” stated the analyst.
