Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration of Moldova Cristina Gerasimov, said in Bucharest, on the occasion of the annual meeting of the Romanian diplomatic service, together with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Luminita Odobescu and Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, that our country will double its efforts towards joining the EU, stressing that the process of enlargement of the Union must be based on the merits of each candidate state, IPN reports with reference to psnews.ro.
“We are going to redouble our efforts and continue to rely on Romania’s support, with the expertise and experience that we already have at our disposal, to advance on our European path,” stated the Moldovan official, noting the direct access to the Community acquis c in Romanian, which will be of real use to the Republic of Moldova in the process of joining to the EU.
Cristina Gerasimov also said that the brutal and unjust war waged by Russia against Ukraine represents a turning point and that the entire free world is urged “to send a clear and unequivocal message that the rules-based international order and the rights of peoples to decide their own destiny” are inalienable values. The European integration of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova is the guarantee of peace and prosperity in this region.
