Moldova’s Cristian Chirita became team table tennis world champion at the ITTF Cadet Challenge 2015 that is held in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh on October 23-31, IPN reports.
In the final game, the 19-year-old athlete, who played together with Cristian Pletea of Romania, Medardas Stankevicius of Lithuania and Truls Moregard of Sweden surprisingly beat the representatives of Asia by 3-0. In the previous five competitions, the Europeans were defeated by the athletes from Asia. In the women’s competition, Latin America won against Europe 3-1.
Last year, Andrei Putuntica won the title of team table tennis world champion among cadets in the doubles, together with Romania’s Cristian Pletea.
