The rescuers on March 18 towed away and unblocked 12 units of transport, including an ambulance that got stuck on the way to a patient in Edinet district. A crisis cell was created at the Operational Emergencies Management Center of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies at 9pm in connection with the difficult weather conditions, IPN reports.

The towed away vehicles remained blocked on district roads in Rezina, Soldanesti, Ungheni, Dubasari, Chisinau, UTA Gagauzia, Hancesti and Edinet. Gaureni and Balanesti villages of Nisporeni district remained disconnected from the power supply at 8pm on March 18.

The decision to set up the crisis cell was taken in a move to monitor the situation in the country and to take the necessary intervention decisions so as to help citizens if need be. The crisis cell consists of representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defense, State Hydrometeorological Service, Chisinau City Hall and power suppliers.

The crisis cell will work on a permanent basis until the situation improves. The road sections where movement is usually difficult are monitored strictly. Among these are the road from Leuseni to the customs post, the Chisinau – Hancesti and Anenii-Noi – Causeni roads.

The General Inspectorate for Emergencies calls on the people to show responsibility and prudence and to inform themselves about the weather conditions and the situation on roads before starting a journey. If the trips are not strictly necessary, they should be put off so as to avoid situations of crisis.

In emergencies, the people are urged to call the emergency services on 901, 902 and 903.
