Criminal police investigator arrested for bribery

A criminal police investigator at the Chisinau Police Commissariat was arrested yesterday for 72 hours on suspicion of bribery. In particular, he is suspected of demanding a bribe for hushing up a traffic accident case. The Prosecutor General's Office said in a press release that on July 11 a minibus driver struck a pedestrian on Dacia Boulevard, injuring him. A month later, the investigator assigned to the case demanded 5,000 lei from the driver not to initiate criminal proceedings. The Anticorruption Prosecution Service took over the case.
