The persons who deliberately do not respect the coronavirus control measures and fill out the epidemiological forms incorrectly, favoring thus the spread of the virus, will answer criminally or administratively, President Igor Dodon was quoted by IPN as saying after the meeting with the Premier and Parliament Speaker.

According to President Dodon, changes will have to be made to the legislation so that the persons could be fined or held criminally accountable. A relevant bill will be examined in the March 11 meeting of the Cabinet and later in Parliament.

The official called on all the persons who come from areas affected by the COVID-19 to provide the responsible authorities with data about their state of health and to correctly fill out the epidemiological forms.

President Doodn said that when the first case of transmission of the virus from one person to another is recorded inside the country, the educational institutions will be closed. The events that involve many people will also be banned then. “The bill that will be debated this week should stipulate this,” he stated.

Igor Dodon also said it is premature to assess the way in which the authorities have dealt with the first case of infection with the novel coronavirus in Moldova. At the current stage, the authorities cope with the situation.
